The Challenge

The goal: reduce energy consumption, increase user comfort and simplify building management. The Pathway and English Language Centre – a key part of the campus – needed to be seamlessly integrated into the existing network and be future-ready for further expansion.

Sustainability was a central focus of the project. Lighting was only to be active when necessary and integration with external systems such as the BMS and fire detection system was preferred to boost operational efficiency.

The Solution

Technology integrator Strawberry Sound selected Philips Dynalite for its modular architecture and scalability. The system was connected to the university’s existing central lighting server, making the Pathway Centre a fully integrated part of the campus-wide network. Additional buildings can now be added in the same way with ease.

To optimize energy savings and make the most of natural daylight, light level sensors were installed for daylight harvesting. Combined with occupancy sensors and automated scheduling, lighting is only activated when truly needed – in classrooms, lecture halls and shared spaces. Thanks to System Manager, facility staff maintain central visibility and control over the entire network.

Conclusion

This solution not only met the university’s requirements – Strawberry Sound went even further. With automated control, daylight harvesting, integration with AV and safety systems and an intuitive user experience, the system is a model of efficient, sustainable and user-centric building management.

The project was awarded gold at the Dynalite Partner Awards in the category for best use of automation logic – recognition of the smart balance between technology, comfort and energy efficiency on this dynamic campus.
